2. Product Evaluation
The evaluation version of SafeGuard PortAuditor is available in two types of evaluation methods:
1 Standalone – Allows 5 executions with full functionality before the evaluation expires.
2 Management – Allows 30 days of evaluation with full functionality before the evaluation expires.
Once the evaluation is over, a message is displayed asking for the input of a license key. To request an extension to the evaluation or an upgrade to a fully licensed version, please contact your local Sophos partner or Sophos Support with your machine fingerprint.
3. Known restrictions
· Changing the User from within SafeGuard PortAuditor is not available in Windows 2000 due to a lack of privileges given by the OS to the service for changing permissions.
· Only devices that were directly connected to a port will be audited. For example, if a USB Bluetooth dongle is connected to the USB port and a Bluetooth mouse is connected to the dongle, then the Bluetooth dongle will be included in the audit results but the Bluetooth mouse will not.
· Hubs of any type will not be displayed in the audit results.
· On Windows Vista, the SafeGuard PortAuditor does not detect wireless network connections through the WZC (Wireless Zero Configuration) protocol.
· On rare occasions, if when browsing an OU via the SafeGuard PortAuditor screen the Active Directory OU structure is changed (eg, a computer is deleted from that OU), the SafeGuard PortAuditor 'Browse for OU' screen may freeze.
· If the computer on which SafeGuard PortAuditor is installed is not connected to the domain, but the Change User option is used to run SafeGuard PortAuditor on a domain environment with a domain user, then the login will be successful but devices will not be found in the audit results. This is due to an OS impersonation issue.
· On rare occasions, aborting a scan repeatedly may corrupt the resulting report, creating an empty report file. If this occurs, shut down and restart SafeGuard PortAuditor.
· If a WiFi access point was scanned and detected by the endpoint but no actual connection occurred, the MAC address will appear blank (ie 00 00 00 00 00 00).
· On some occasions, when viewing theSafeGuard PortAuditor Excel summary report, the column that summarizes the number of currently connected devices will be empty.
· When two devices with the same VID and PID but with different Distinct IDs are connected simultaneously to the same endpoint, only one of the devices will appear in the scan report as being currently connected; the second device will appear as being previously connected.
· Scanning remote Windows Vista machines, using the Setup API scanning method, will not work.
· When scanning a remote Windows Vista machine, on rare occasions the User Name field of the scanned machine will not contain the domain name.
· NOTE: Customers with a Utimaco branded PortAuditor will not be able to upgrade to this version of the SafeGuard PortAuditor. This version of SafeGuard PortAuditor is Sophos branded and cross-branding upgrades are not possible with this release. Custoemrs who want to use the Sophos branded version, will have to uninstall the previous version and re-install this version. Please contact our support at support@sophos.com for further details.
