SafeGuard PrivateCrypto 2.30.0 contains the following changes compared to version 2.20.0:

• UNICode support
• Usage of SGN local keys
• Files and archives bigger than 2 GB can be handled (self-extracting archives still have a limit of 2 GB)

SafeGuard PrivateCrypto 2.20.0 contains the following changes compared to version 2.11.1:

• Central Administration: It is now possible to set the SGPC options in the group policy via the included administrative template.

SafeGuard PrivateCrypto 2.11.1 contains the following changes compared to version 2.11.0:

• Bugfix: Secure deletion of files also deleted empty parent folders.

SafeGuard PrivateCrypto 2.11.0 contains the following changes compared to version 2.10:

• AES-128 is used as default encryption algorithm but a message box is displayed to inform the user that a better algorithm (AES-256) is available. Note that AES-256 archives can only be read by PrivateCrypto versions 2.10 or newer.
• If a PrivateCrypto archive cannot be opened with this version of the software, a message box now informs the user about the necessary PrivateCrypto version.

SafeGuard PrivateCrypto 2.10.0 contains the following improvements compared to version 2.01:

• Archives are now encrypted with 256 bit security (AES-256).
• Archives created with older versions can be read and changed. It is also possible to create archives with 128 bit encryption (AES-128) for compatibility with older versions of PrivateCrypto.
• An error message is shown when trying to create archives with a size exceeding the maximum of 2 GB.

Administrative privileges are required to install the software.

Simply execute the SafeGuard PrivateCrypto MSI package to install the software.

If the Microsoft Windows Installer component is not available on the computer (e.g. on Windows NT 4.0), there is a larger EXE package for SafeGuard PrivateCrypto that installs the Windows Installer component first automatically.

It is possible to install the software on a network location. Note that in this case some files might be left over in the installation directory after uninstallation.

The software can be used immediately after installation. Normally, no reboot is necessary after installing SafeGuard PrivateCrypto. Under Windows NT 4.0, however, updating some older Microsoft redistributable components might make a reboot necessary.

When installing the software with Active Directory (GPO), the following issues should be considered:

• SafeGuard PrivateCrypto can only be installed per computer (Computer Configuration), not for single users (User Configuration).
• If a program package has a different language than the operating system of the client machine, then the setting "Ignore language when deploying this package" must be enabled for the package, otherwise the software will not be installed automatically.

• The SafeGuard PrivateCrypto shell extension cannot be used by 64-bit Windows Explorer.
