Known issues

End user device

SMS icon on Android devices after refresh

After a Sophos Mobile Control SMS has been received and processed on an Android device and data has been refreshed, the SMS icon remains on the device display. The icon indicates that an SMS has been received although the relevant SMS has been processed and deleted.

SMC Mobile client on Windows Mobile devices with Cyrillic character set

The SMC Mobile client does not work on Windows Mobile devices with a Cyrillic character set.

Certificate installation on Windows Mobile devices

Under certain circumstances, certificate installation on Windows Mobile devices may fail. Should this behavior occur, a fix is available. Please contact Sophos Support.

Upgrade from Android 2.2 to 2.3

When you upgrade an Android device from Android 2.2 to 2.3 over-the-air, the Sophos Mobile Control client no longer works. Sophos Mobile Control is still shown in the pull-down menu, but cannot be started.

Sophos Mobile Control web interface

Changing the refresh interval on the Task View page

If you change the refresh interval on the Task View page as a Multi Tenancy Administrator, you will be taken back to the Home page. This behavior is caused due to technical reasons.

Task information shows two installation entries

After the installation of the SMC client on an end user device has been completed, the State column in the Task view shows two Installed entries for the device.

Special characters in Windows Mobile profile settings cause error

If you create a Windows Mobile profile, use special characters and send the profile to a Windows Mobile device, an error occurs.

Deleting iPhone bootstrap profiles

If you delete an iPhone bootstrap profile for a device in the Sophos Mobile Control web interface under Installed profiles, the profile is removed from the device, but it is still available on the SMC server.

Exception on empty tables

If you click the >> button on an empty table, a “div by zero” exception occurs.

Device reports

If you create a device report as a Multi Tenancy Admin user, the insert date is included, but it is not shown in the column definition (header).

Task archive

If you select the All select check box and afterwards click Refresh, all devices are deselected. The All select check box remains selected.

No device inventory or traffic counter graphics in Internet Explorer

For displaying device type information as graphics in the Inventory or Traffic Counter menu, a browser with SVG support is required. Unfortunately, Internet Explorer (all versions) does not support this out of the box. Please install Acrobat Reader 9x to get an Adobe SVG plugin. You can also install any other SVG plugin.

Synchronizing an Android device with an Exchange Server

Android devices are automatically enabled through EAS Proxy, if the device was registered with the Self Service Portal. In case an admin has added the phone to Sophos Mobile Control, it is required to enter the sAMAccountName in the respective property of the device details view to make ActiveSync synchronization possible. If devices are registered with an LDAP entry and SSP, this is not necessary.

Sophos Mobile Control Customer Wizard

In the Customer Wizard, you currently cannot delete existing customers from the database. If you want to remove a customer, remove all devices and all users for this customer in the Sophos Mobile Control web interface. The customer will remain as an orphan.
