App system requirements

Sophos Secure Email can be installed on devices that run iOS 8.x or higher.

Sophos Secure Email requires to be managed by a Sophos Mobile Control server. For details see the Sophos Mobile Control 6.1 release notes.

Installation

Sophos Secure Email is installed from the App Store.

Known issues

Calendar may stop to sync when app is operated for a very long time with a poor network connection

In very rare occasions, it may happen that the calendar stops to sync when the app has been operated for a long time with a poor network connection.

Solution: Close the Sophos Secure Email app (double-click the Home button and swipe-up on the app in the app list) and re-start it. 

If camera permission is not granted for Sophos Secure Email, a black screen is shown when taking photos

If the user does not allow the camera for Sophos Secure Email, only a black screen is shown when trying to take a photo. To grant the camera permission, open the Settings app and go to Privacy > Camera.

Adding photos to contacts does not work

After adding a photo to a contact, the user is directed to the email tab and the changes to the contact are not saved.

Email addresses containing apostrophes are not supported

Email messages cannot be sent if any receiver's email address contains an apostrophe character.

Server URLs containing a port number are not supported

Adding a port number to a server URL is not supported by Sophos Secure Email.

App crashes when force-touching the thumbnail picture

When tap and hold an attachment in a created mail, the app may crash instantly. This only happens on devices with Force Touch.

Attachments of appointments are not available

Opening attachments of appointments is not supported by the ActiveSync protocol (see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2503175).

Only plain text emails are supported

Currently Sophos Secure Email only supports the creation of plain text emails. Support of RTF and HTML format will be implemented in an upcoming version.

Notifications are not shown although enabled

In rare cases it may happen that email and appointment notifications are no more shown.

Solution: Close the Sophos Secure Email app (double-click the Home button and swipe-up on the app in the app list) and re-start it.
