Sophos Secure Workspace 6.0 for iOS - Release Notes

New in this release 

Corporate browser in managed mode

Sophos Secure Workspace (SSW) now offers a corporate browser that allows to browse selected, pre-configured corporate sites within SSW. If SSW is managed by Sophos Mobile Control (SMC), the admin can define corporate websites that the user is allowed to browse and also provides all means for authentication (e.g. certificates or certificates created via SCEP) for the corporate browser. If configured, the user can browse to the corporate websites defined by the admin. 

The corporate browser offers:

 * Multi-tab support

 * Browsing history 

 * Corporate and private bookmarks

 * Credential manager to store the user credentials (if allowed by the SMC admin)

Please note: This feature requires an iOS device managed by a Sophos Mobile Control server version 6.0 or higher.

Please note: This feature is only available in managed mode. This feature requires a Sophos Mobile Control advanced license.

Several minor improvements

The new version of Sophos Secure Workspace includes several minor improvements, e.g.:

 * Up to 3 corporate WebDav accounts can now be configured in Sophos Mobile Control and used in Sophos Secure Workspace.

 * The user can now add or remove items from the main dashboard.

System requirements

Sophos Secure Workspace runs on the following platforms:

• Apple iPhone 4 or newer
• Apple iPad 2 or newer
• Apple iPod Touch 5Gen or newer

Compatible devices have to run iOS 7.x or higher.

Supported storage providers

Sophos Secure Workspace supports following storage providers:

• Dropbox
• Google Drive
• Egnyte
• Telekom Media Center
• Microsoft OneDrive (former SkyDrive)
• WebDAV (tested with ownCloud, Strato HiDrive and Microsoft Internet Information Server)

Installation

Installation of the application must be done via the Apple iTunes App Store.

Known issues

Dropbox authentication

• Once successfully linked to a Dropbox account, no more password input is required to get access to the files in the linked Dropbox. Even if the password for this Dropbox account is changed on another system or via the Dropbox web site, presenting this new password is not required on any of the linked systems nor do these systems have to be linked again. In case access to the Dropbox has to be withdrawn reliably (e.g. because a mobile device is lost), the device should be un-linked from the given Dropbox account via the Dropbox web site and thus be no longer allowed to access the data.

File sync

• Files stored on the mobile device are updated automatically whenever modified in the cloud. Some file attributes like the file size and modification date are used to detect any changes. In case a previously encrypted file is encrypted using a different key, the file will not be synchronized to the client. This is because the content of the file remains unchanged, as well as the file's attributes, and therefore a sync is not triggered.

A crash may occur on an iOS tablet when the user views manged Sophos Secure Workspace in portrait mode and the Sophos Mobile Control admin denies network access

• When the administrator is denying network access for a managed Sophos Secure Workspace app on an iOS tablet while the user is operating the app, the app may crash when it is used in portrait mode. Switching to landscape mode solves the problem.

File List

• If a file list section only contains a single item and the item is scrolled to the very top - beneath its section header - while opening an encrypted file, the section header will be shown twice in the file list, covering its single item. If this happens, the user has to navigate to the parent folder and to enter the folder again to refresh the file list.
