About Sophos Central Migration Tool

The Sophos Central Migration Tool helps administrators to move management of protected computers from Sophos Enterprise Console to Sophos Central.

What's new

Sophos Central Migration Tool now has these features.

  • Can be used with Sophos Enterprise Console installations that have any of the following:
    • A remote Sophos database.
    • Remote Sophos Update Managers.
    • Multiple update folders or CIDs (Central Installation Directories).
    • Web CIDs.
  • Supports up to 5000 computers.
  • No longer supports Windows Server 2003. For a workround, see knowledge base article 126407.

System requirements

Sophos Central Migration Tool

To use Sophos Central Migration Tool, you need:

  • Sophos Enterprise Console 5.0 and later.
  • Sophos Update Manager 1.6.0 and later.
  • Windows Installer Framework 4.5 or later. If you don’t have it, install it before you install the tool.

You must install Sophos Central Migration Tool on the computer where the Sophos Enterprise Console management server is installed.

Computers for migration

To be migrated to Sophos Central, computers must run a supported operating system and not have any Sophos security features that are not supported in Sophos Central.

Known issues and limitations

  • If Sophos Enterprise Console is installed on a Domain Controller, and the Sophos Enterprise Console administrator didn't assign sub-estates or roles to the [Domain]\Sophos Full Administrators group, Sophos Central Migration Tool won't show the roles or sub-estates that belong to the Sophos Full Administrators group.
  • Sophos Central Migration Tool doesn't start with .NET 4.7.2 is installed. This is related to a Microsoft .NET implementation problem, see https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/dotnet/2018/07/20/advisory-on-july-2018-net-framework-updates/.
